"In an occupational setting, housekeeping refers to a managerial activity that aims to provide a clean, comfortable and safe environment. Whether big or small, all organizations have some designated personnel who look after the operations and management of its building. In large organizations, there is a separate housekeeping department. All organizations require housekeeping but this function is extremely critical for entities such as hotels, motels, and hospitals. Some of the primary activities of the housekeeping department include ensuring cleanliness and maintenance of facilities, restrooms, and common areas; vacuuming, sweeping, and mopping floors; stocking restrooms; notifying maintenance managers for necessary repairs; collection and disposal of wastes; and taking care of guests concerns, when necessary. This book provides significant information of housekeeping to help develop a good understanding of the subject matter. The readers would gain knowledge that would broaden their perspective about the operations and management related to this field.'--Back cover
