Basic Calculus for Senior High School is specifically designed according to the standards established by the Department of Education (DepEd) for the Grade ll Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics (STEM) specialized subject in Basic Calculus. The preparation of this book is guided by the subject description, content and performance standards, and learning competencies set by the DepEd for Basic Calculus. This book is composed of three chapters, namely, Limits and Continuity, Basic Concepts of Derivatives and Their Applications, and Integrals. Each chapter has an introduction about the topic while each section has a list of Learning Objectives and Prior Knowledge Required to properly guide the students on what to learn and what is expected of them after the discussion. The concepts and techniques are discussed in detail to meet the students' learning needs. Discussions are usually followed by a myriad of Worked examples and a number of exercises from which the teachers may lift homeworks, quizzes, activities, and other formative assessments. At the end of each chapter is a Chapter Review followed by a Chapter Test Which is designed to be a summative assessment of students' comprehension of the topics discussed. Basic Calculus for Senior High School is tailored to fit the needs and learning styles of senior high school students while preparing them for university formats. A conversational approach is applied in discussing skills-based concepts While presenting the technical content in a more formal and detailed manner. Several sections of this book are devoted to highlight specific applications of calculus that students may encounter in their future fields of specialization. This book is made to prepare the students for the requirements of university life and ultimately, of their chosen profession.
